Looking for more outdoor dining options? Richie's Jerk & BBQ on Washington St. will soon be adding picnic tables with umbrellas on the grassy lot next door. Flower pots will add some color and a little screening from the sidewalk. Their long-term plans include a gazebo or tent to shelter a table or two in wet weather. School Budget Approved in Low Turnout

The Sanford School Department's budget for 2021-2022 was approved in a vote of 407-177 in Tuesday's referendum. Just 4% of Sanford's registered voters bothered to cast a ballot one way or the other. The 584 total votes includes 72 early/absentee votes. The breakdown of votes by ward is shown in the official tally pictured above.

Goodall Library Plans Expansion

At the City Council’s Municipal Operations and Property Subcommittee meeting on June 8, Goodall Library Director Chip Schrader presented plans for a renovation and expansion of the Library, which will address a number of long-term goals. Update on Police Department Activities

At the City Council’s Public Safety Subcommittee meeting on June 8, Deputy Police Chief Craig Andersen presented an update on some of the Sanford Police Department’s recent activities. He started off with an update on the May 5 fire on Spruce St. Police officers responded at 3:30 a.m. and assisted with evacuating residents.
