Voters Approve School Budget

The $68.9 million school budget was approved Tuesday by a wide margin, with 519 voting in favor and 158 opposed, according to City Clerk and Voter Registrar Susan Cote. Those turning out for the election, including early voting, represented only 5% of Sanford’s 14,449 registered voters. This year’s budget increase was driven by higher health insurance premiums and compliance requirements under the Family Medical Leave Act.
