Sanford's newest restaurant will debut on Wednesday, August 4, when the Welcome Home Diner opens its doors at 6 Lebanon St., in the building once occupied by Jerry's Diner (and Cindy's Too). Welcome Home Diner will serve breakfast and lunch from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Wednesday through Sunday. They plan to expand to evening service in the future as staffing allows. Downtown Buildings Getting Facelifts

A couple of Sanford’s most visible downtown buildings are getting much-needed exterior improvements under their new owners. The Design Review Committee met with the building owners and reviewed the plans at its Zoom meeting last week. 14 Winter St. (pictured above), formerly the offices of Dr. Frank and Dr. McGuckin, will soon be reopened as a medical office, when Enso Recovery relocates from its current location in South Sanford. There were no arrests on Sunday, July 18. Several motor vehicle stops resulted in written warnings, while one driver got a ticket. On Sunday, July 11, a summons was issued following a shoplifting call to a Main St. address. There were also two citations written that day following motor vehicle stops, on Main St. and Lebanon St. Monday, July 12, Sanford officers responding to a disturbance on Emerson St. summonsed a 43-year-old Sanford resident on an assault charge.
