Sanford is set to see a big expansion in the number of market-rate rental housing units in the next two years, with major building or renovation projects happening all over town. Doreen M. Walker, 75, passed away on December 14, 2022 at Wentworth Douglass Hospital in Dover, NH. She was in the presence of family and surrounded by love. She was born on November 26, 1947 in Providence, RI, the daughter of Mary Garcia Goulart and Wilburn Turner. She was raised in Bristol, RI and graduated from Colt Memorial High School. When folks remember Hanna Powell, they remember a strong, talented woman who loved music — teaching music, and teaching music to children in particular. After her death in 2017, after a long battle with breast cancer, it seemed fitting to memorialize their musician with a piano competition in her name.
