If you’ve noticed that parking spaces at the intersection of Main and Washington Streets have disappeared, Public Works Director Matthew Hill reports that is because they weren’t strictly legal to be there, due to proximity to the intersection. More Sanford Outbreaks, More Sanford Cases

At his press briefing on Thursday, September 17, Dr. Nirav Shah of Maine CDC announced a new outbreak of three cases of Covid-19 at The Baker Company, a medical equipment manufacturer located in South Sanford behind the Airport. Additionally, an outbreak of 18 cases at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard includes seven Sanford residents who work at the Shipyard and commuted together. New Flight School Opening at Airport

A new flight school, BDF Air, is coming to the Sanford Seacoast Regional Airport. The school will offer training and certification to pilots who want to fly multi-engine aircraft. The company’s Beechcraft Duchess plane will be housed in the former city hangar. Airport Manager Allison Navia told the City Council’s Property Subcommittee on Tuesday that BDF Air will fit in well with the Airport’s other offerings. BMV Update

The Springvale Bureau of Motor Vehicles office will likely not be reopening until mid-November. According to Kristen Muszynski, Communications Director for the Secretary of State’s office, a decision on a reopening date will be made after October 20. In the meantime, the Kennebunk office, which is currently open by appointment only, will begin accepting walk-in traffic after September 29. The closest office that currently takes walk-in traffic is in Scarborough, where lines are reportedly three hours long or more. Some…
