At the City’s Council’s regular meeting on November 10, the following items were among those presented or discussed: Mayor Tom Cote offered congratulations to Mayor-Elect Anne-Marie Mastraccio; to Jonathan Martell on his election to City Council, and to Maura Herlihy on her reelection; and to Lucas Lanigan and Victor DiGregorio on running positive campaigns for Mayor. Another Solar Project Planned for Sanford

At its November 4 meeting, the Sanford Planning Board gave approval to an application by NBD Solar Maine, LLC, for a new 7.5 megawatt solar facility to be constructed on property at 83 Airport Road, near the intersection with Gatehouse Road. The plans call for less than 20 acres of the 107 acre parcel to be developed. Two sections of the property where the panels will be installed will be fenced off. Register Now for Vacation Camp

Sanford Parks and Recreation is taking registrations now for the winter session of Vacation Day Camp, a program for school age children (grades pre-K to 6) which runs the length of a vacation week when school is not in session. Campers are kept safe and busy with a variety of activities that will include: Lego's, games, arts and crafts, sports, field trips, movies, and just plain fun. Pickleball for Seniors (plus)

What is Pickleball?  It's a mixture of tennis, pingpong and staying out of the kitchen.  This game has caught the spirit of many including Roger Huppe, Ben Harris and Ernie Cote who have dedicated much time and effort to seeing this sport grow in Sanford/Springvale.  It is played weekly year round.  They have equipment for public use and will teach you how to play. Covid-19 Update: November 8

The Sanford School Department announced on November 5 that an individual associated with Margaret Chase Smith School recently tested positive for COVID-19. The current hybrid model of education helped limit any contact this individual had with others so very few staff and students were exposed. Those at risk have already been identified and contacted by a CDC or school representative and are quarantining. We will update tomorrow if any more positive test results are announced.
