The Sanford Police are looking for the owner of a dog, described as a dark bulldog, that bit an elderly woman on William Oscar Emery Drive near the dog park on Saturday around 4:00 p.m. They need to ascertain if the dog is up to date on vaccinations, otherwise the bite victim will need to undergo a series of painful rabies shots. On September 18, Springvale Public Library Director Lesley Unger reluctantly decided to close the Library to the public due to the surge of Covid-19 cases in our community. If you’ve noticed that parking spaces at the intersection of Main and Washington Streets have disappeared, Public Works Director Matthew Hill reports that is because they weren’t strictly legal to be there, due to proximity to the intersection. More Sanford Outbreaks, More Sanford Cases

At his press briefing on Thursday, September 17, Dr. Nirav Shah of Maine CDC announced a new outbreak of three cases of Covid-19 at The Baker Company, a medical equipment manufacturer located in South Sanford behind the Airport. Additionally, an outbreak of 18 cases at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard includes seven Sanford residents who work at the Shipyard and commuted together.
