Parks & Recreation Facilities Closed

At their meeting on Tuesday, September 22, members of the Sanford City Council voted 6-1 to close all public parks, fields, and outdoor sports facilities in the city, and to shut down all recreational programming for adults and youths. This will remain in effect until such time as Sanford High School/SRTC is no longer designated “red” by the School Department under the color-coding school reopening guidelines. Sanford Covid-19 Update 9/22

At his regular press briefing on Tuesday, September 22, Dr. Nirav Shah of Maine CDC devoted considerable time to discussing the Covid-19 outbreaks here. Dr. Shah said he is "deeply concerned about Sanford," adding that virtually every aspect of life in our community is being affected by the outbreaks. He announced one new outbreak in Sanford, at the Wolves Club. Five patrons and one staff member have tested positive there. The outbreak at the Baker Company now includes seven cases.…

Superintendent of Schools Matt Nelson announced on Friday, September 18, that Sanford High School and the Sanford Regional Technical Center will move to fully remote instruction beginning Monday, September 21. An individual associated with the High School recently tested positive for Covid-19, and there is a possibility that other staff or students may have been exposed.
