School Naming Process Debated

At the School Committee’s January 4 meeting, the process for giving a permanent name to the Converted Elementary School (formerly the Junior High School) was discussed. The school is currently undergoing renovations, scheduled for completion this summer. During the public participation section of the meeting, Sanford High School teacher Paul Auger said mistakes have been made in the past with the process for naming projects. Enrichment Courses Planned for SHS/SRTC

At the School Committee's January 4 meeting, Curriculum Director Beth Lambert gave a presentation on the enrichment courses planned for Sanford High School/SRTC for the 2021-2022 school year. The courses were originally planned to start this year, but the hybrid learning schedule due to the pandemic required it to be delayed until next year. Let's get the bad news over with first. This past week, our community set another one-week record for new cases of Covid-19, with a total of 94 new cases. 80 of those were in Sanford and 14 were in Springvale.
