The Sanford Backpack Program has a full summer of food distributions planned! Each Thursday from June 10 through September 2, they will be at one of the apartment complexes in town, either Meadow Creek, Timber Ridge or Eastside Acres. They will also be at Breary Farms and the Willard School every Thursday. These events are open to all Sanford/Springvale residents, no signup required and no questions asked. On an unusually warm morning last month, thoughtful folks from Kennebunk Savings Bank volunteered alongside Sanford Springvale Mousam Way Land Trust directors to complete the installations of two footbridges and a boardwalk at the Trust’s latest acquisition—a 16 acre reserve donated by Mrs. Rebecca Legro. Located just a half mile up Oak Street from Springvale square, the Lowd Environmental Reserve, named after Mrs. Legro’s family, has footpaths that make for a pleasant and easy walk. Shaker Hill Bakery Opens for the Season

Shaker Hill Bakery & Catering, on the campus of York County Shelter Programs, is open for the season! The bakery will be open Thursday-Sunday each week, 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., through December. With such an excellent response from customers last year, YCSP decided to open the bakery doors a bit earlier this year, and with extended hours.
