Sanford residents and Maine National Guard members Sgt. Brett Baker and Pfc. Adam Mcleod were part of a team that was awarded Best Squad at the state's 240th Regional Training Institute, held September 9-11. School Committee 9/12 Meeting Summary

The Sanford School Committee met September 12, 2022. Three of the five members were present: Paula Cote, John Roux and Jen Davie. The agenda listed the start time as 6:30 p.m., but due to a number of student hearings held in executive session, the regular meeting didn’t begin until 7:34. Chester Pike (Spike) Avery, Jr. passed away on Thursday, September 8, 2022, at his home in Alexandria, Virginia. He was 85 years old. Chet was born on August 1, 1937, in Sanford, Maine to florists Chester Sr. and Gladys Avery. At the age of 16, he began to lose vision in his left eye, and he became fully blind at the age of 17.
