Arrests & Summonses: July 11-17

On Sunday, July 11, a summons was issued following a shoplifting call to a Main St. address. There were also two citations written that day following motor vehicle stops, on Main St. and Lebanon St. Monday, July 12, Sanford officers responding to a disturbance on Emerson St. summonsed a 43-year-old Sanford resident on an assault charge. Andersen Sworn In As Sanford’s New Police Chief

Following the recognition of retiring Police Chief Tom Connolly at the July 20 City Council meeting, City Manager Steven Buck described the lengthy process of selecting the Chief's replacement. A 22-Person Committee was appointed to provide input into the City’s and Department’s needs for the next Police Chief. Police Chief Connolly Recognized For Service

The City Council this week expressed appreciation to retiring Police Chief Thomas P. Connolly, Jr. for his 14 years of service to the City. At the Council's meeting on July 20, Mayor Anne-Marie Mastraccio read a proclamation recognizing Chief Connolly for his 41 years in law enforcement. Fire Department Log: July 11-17

Fires: On July 13, Engine 5 responded to an unattended brush fire on Lefrancois Ln. The blaze covered about 100 square feet and was quickly brought under control.
