SPD’s New Mental Health Unit Already Making an Impact

The Sanford Police Department’s new Mental Health Unit is being developed to respond to people in crisis situations. The Unit is comprised of Detective Colleen Adams, who is the Department’s new Community Outreach Coordinator, and York County’s OPTIONS  clinician Carly Flagg. Fire Department Log: July 25 – August 7

Fires On July 26, there was a fire, which was kept small and contained by the automatic sprinkler system, at a Main St. facility. The alarm system alerted 911 of a problem and the Department responded with multiple units.  There was water damage from the sprinklers, but the fire damage was kept to a minimum due to its limited growth and spread before firefighters arrived and extinguished it. The Animal Control Investigation Process

The recent seizure of a large number of animals from a Deering Neighborhood Rd. residence brought up many questions about the process by which complaints about abuse and neglect of animals are handled. Fire Department Log: July 18-24

There were no fires this week. Other incidents: On Sunday, July 18, a faulty electrical appliance on Shawmut Ave. caused excessive heat and scorching, but fortunately, it did not ignite.
