On Sunday, September 12, Sanford Police, responding to a shoplifting call on Main St. at 3:28 a.m., summonsed a 22-year-old Springvale resident for theft and criminal trespass. That night, a disturbance on Main St. led to the arrest of a 17-year-old juvenile for refusing to submit to arrest or detention, and assault on an officer. Fire Department Log: September 5-11

Fires On Thursday, September 9, multiple units responded to a grease fire at the Springvale Publick House, 481 Main St. It was extinguished with minimal damage. The restaurant remained closed until the unit could be cleaned and inspected. Police Department Update

Members of the Sanford Police Department met with the City Council's Public Safety Subcommittee on September 14 to give an update on the Department's recent activities. Detective Allen Commended: Chief Craig Andersen recognized Detective Everett Allen for an event that occurred on August 20. Detective Allen and Fire Chief Steve Benotti were travelling through Berwick when they saw a man signaling for help.
