Register Now for Vacation Camp

Sanford Parks and Recreation is taking registrations now for the winter session of Vacation Day Camp, a program for school age children (grades pre-K to 6) which runs the length of a vacation week when school is not in session. Campers are kept safe and busy with a variety of activities that will include: Lego's, games, arts and crafts, sports, field trips, movies, and just plain fun. Pickleball for Seniors (plus)

What is Pickleball?  It's a mixture of tennis, pingpong and staying out of the kitchen.  This game has caught the spirit of many including Roger Huppe, Ben Harris and Ernie Cote who have dedicated much time and effort to seeing this sport grow in Sanford/Springvale.  It is played weekly year round.  They have equipment for public use and will teach you how to play. A New Park for Springvale

A small parcel of city-owned land in Springvale is being turned into a lovely park thanks to the efforts of local residents and businesses. The park is located at the corner of Water and Bridge Streets along the Mousam River, across from Notre Dame Church. City Parks & Recreation Facilities Reopen

At their regular meeting on Tuesday, October 6, the City Council voted unanimously to accept the recommendation of the Public Safety Subcommittee, and reopen all parks and recreational facilities in Sanford and Springvale to low and moderate risk activities, as defined by the Maine Department of Economic and Community Development’s community sports guidelines. Parks & Recreation Facilities Closed

At their meeting on Tuesday, September 22, members of the Sanford City Council voted 6-1 to close all public parks, fields, and outdoor sports facilities in the city, and to shut down all recreational programming for adults and youths. This will remain in effect until such time as Sanford High School/SRTC is no longer designated “red” by the School Department under the color-coding school reopening guidelines.
