News Notes: December 19, 2021

Last week Senators Susan Collins and Angus King announced their nominees to the United States Military Academies. Among the Maine students nominated was Laila Adawadkar of Springvale, a graduate of Sanford High School who will attend the US Naval Academy at Annapolis. The Sanford Elks' Giving Trees fundraiser was an incredibly successful event this year, raising $4,000 for the Elks National Foundation. News Notes: December 12, 2021

The Sanford-Springvale Historical Society has announced its acquisition of the building next door, on the south side of the Historical Museum. Located at 509 Main St., it was previously the home and dental office of Dr. Donald Warner. The closing was held on November 22 and marks an exciting new chapter in the organization's mission. The Sanford Schools Legacy Foundation is currently raising funds for the Brian Flanagan Memorial Pole Vault Shed at Sanford High School. Vacation Day Camp is a program for school age children run by Sanford Parks and Recreation and held at the Memorial Gym on Main St. This year's December Vacation Camp runs weekdays from Thursday, December 23 through Friday, December 31. Last week, the Goodall Library hosted the Golden Love Therapy Dog Team for a successful Kids Read to Dogs event! Duncan-Marshmellow and his new friend Rocco visited for a Pre-K Story Time this morning, where they all enjoyed “Madeline Finn and the The Therapy Dog” by Lisa Papp together.
