Arrests & Summonses: July 25 – August 7

In the early hours of Sunday, July 25, a Sanford Police officer on patrol at the intersection of Maine and Lenox Sts. summonsed a 20-year-old Sanford resident for violating condition of release. Meanwhile, another officer was responding to a report of an assault on Pioneer Ave. A 22-year-old Sanford resident was arrested on a charge of domestic violence assault. Return to School Plan Approved w/Masks Required

At its summer meeting on August 11, the Sanford School Committee voted 3-2 to approve the School Department’s Safe Return to School and Continuity of Instruction Plan. Superintendent of Schools Matt Nelson presented the Plan, which outlines the steps the Department is taking to bring all students back to school full time this fall, while maintaining safety precautions to keep Covid-19 transmission as low as possible. Four of the City Council’s Subcommittees met via Zoom on Tuesday, August 8. Here is a summary of what was discussed at each meeting. Municipal Operations and Property Road paving: Public Works Director Matt Hill updated the Subcommittee on the Capital Improvements Plan.
