Residents and staff from the Newton Center transferred to their brand new space next door at Summer Commons this past week. Summer Commons, pictured above, is a new state-of-the-art licensed 64-bed skilled nursing care center combined with a 30-bed assisted living unit specializing in Memory Care. It is managed by North Country Associates, a Maine-based company with facilities across the state and in Massachusetts. Once the Newton Center is completely cleared out, it will be demolished. Police Log Highlights: May 7-13, 2021

On Friday, May 7, Sanford officers responding to a report of terrorizing/threatening on High St. arrested a 31-year-old Windham resident on a warrant, as well as charges of criminal threatening. He was also summonsed for operating after habitual offender revocation with a prior. Saturday, May 8, a report of vandalism on Main St. resulted in a summons to a 43-year-old Sanford resident for criminal mischief and violating condition of release. Absentee ballots are now available for the June 8 School Budget Validation Referendum Election. In-person, safe and socially distanced absentee voting is happening Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the 3rd floor Council Chambers Anyone who needs to register to vote should submit an application no later than May 18. The ‘Closed Period,’ which is 20 days prior to any election, begins on Wednesday May 19. This means all registrations must be done in person in…
