Sanford Pride Elementary Ready to Welcome Students

The multi-year reorganization of Sanford’s schools will be nearly complete when Sanford Pride Elementary School opens its doors to students in grades 1-4 on Monday, August 30. Soaring Property Values Mean Higher Tax Bills For Homeowners

Most Sanford and Springvale homeowners got unhappy news in their property tax bills this week, as the big bump in the residential real estate market has resulted in higher tax bills for homeowners. Many commercial property owners, by contrast, saw their tax bills drop, as the value of commercial property has not increased at the same rate as residential property. Arrests & Summonses: August 15-21

There were no arrests or summonses on Sunday, August 15. Sanford Police, along with multiple units of the Fire Department/EMS, responded to a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Cottage and Lafayette Sts.. The patient was transported to the hospital. The Department also responded to disturbances on Grammar St., Twombley Rd. and Ridgeway Ave., among other calls that day. Fire Department Log: August 15-21

There were no fires this week. Other Incidents Sanford firefighters responded to a small gasoline spill in a driveway, and an electrical wiring problem. The Department also dealt with two unpermitted outside fires. Two reports of smoke odor were investigated. Firefighters also responded to a tree down across a road, which was not impacting any power lines.
