Caring Unlimited Wins Competitive Grant for Youth Violence Prevention

U.S. Attorney Darcie N. McElwee announced October 30 that Caring Unlimited, York County’s domestic violence resource center based in Sanford, was recently awarded a $497,000 three-year grant from the Department of Justice’s Office on Violence Against Women (OVW) Consolidated Youth Program. Caring Unlimited’s program was one of only 16 projects selected nationally to receive such a grant. VIP Auto to Expand Former Bonanza Building and Relocate

Consultants for VIP Auto, Inc. have been working with Sanford’s Planning Department over the past several months to get approval for an expansion of the former Bonanza Steakhouse building to become VIP’s new, larger location. The Sanford School Committee met November 1, 2021. Committee member Jonathan Mapes was not present. Chairman Don Jamison called the meeting to order. The minutes of previous meetings were approved. Sanford Middle School Books Are Flying Off the Shelves! The beginning of the school year has been great for readers.  For the first time, Sanford Middle School has all 5th - 8th graders here and the students are eager to get their hands on books.  In September we checked out over 3000 books.  The previous record was 1,766.  In October we also broke a record with a little over 2,600 books.  The…
