Obituary: Charles William Heffernan

Charles William Heffernan (January 11, 1929 - January 8, 2022) Charles passed away peacefully at home in Amherst, just shy of his 93rd birthday. Son of William Heffernan and Alice Roberts Heffernan, Charles was born in E. Waterboro, ME where he grew up until he attended New England Conservatory as a piano major earning a Music Certificate. There had been some concern among parents that the meeting would announce schools were reverting to remote learning, but that was not the case. The Sanford High School wrestling team turned a golden opportunity into gold last week, winning the team title at the Zeb Leavitt Memorial Tournament at Cheverus High School in Portland. The Spartans had not originally been scheduled to participate, but were added to the slate at the last minute when another team had to withdraw.
