Congratulations to the Sanford Elks Lodge #1470 on winning the 2022 Ritual championship for the state of Maine. Team members (pictured above) were judged on how well they memorized and delivered their lines, and how well they performed the Elks initiation ritual, which is used when new members join the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks. Sanford Native Lori Marks Named US Corrections Officer of the Year

Lori Marks, a 1988 graduate of Sanford High School and employee of York County Jail, has been selected as Corrections Officer of the Year by the American Jail Association. She will be honored in May at the AJA’s National Convention in Long Beach, CA. She now lives in Alfred. School Committee 2/28 Meeting Summary

The Sanford School Committee met February 28, 2022. All members were present except John Roux. The minutes of the previous meetings were approved. Public comments Chairperson Paula Cote read a statement asking that speakers identify themselves, and limit their comments to two minutes. She asked that speakers be civil, with no disparaging comments against individuals or groups. She said the Committee was there to listen, but would not debate or respond to questions.
