City Council 8/2 Meeting Summary

The Sanford City Council met August 2, 2022. All members were present. The minutes of the July 19 and July 26 meetings were approved. Mayor’s Report Mayor Anne-Marie Mastraccio had two announcements of upcoming events: Rolling Thunder Chapter One Maine and the Southern Maine Veterans Cemetery will dedicate the POW/MIA memorial there on Saturday, September 24. News Notes: August 7, 2022

The new grand entry and ticket booth at Alumni Stadium are progressing nicely. The contractor is awaiting the finishing materials (windows, roofing and sign) to get it all finished. The Sanford Alumni Association has sponsorship opportunities available to support their ongoing efforts on projects like these. New Police Department Command Structure Approved

At its meeting on August 2, 2022, the City Council unanimously approved a recommendation by Police Chief Craig Andersen to substantially reorganize the command structure of the Sanford Police Department. Chief Andersen told the Council that the SPD’s command structure hasn’t changed much since he started with the agency in 1988.
