Congratulations to the Sanford Country Club’s new 2022 club champions! 14-year-old Lorenzo Tarbox (pictured above) is the men’s champion, and Kim Comstock is the women’s champ.
Sanford High School’s fall sports program begins August 15 and runs through November 11. Register here. If your kids are participating in fall sports, please attend the parents’ meeting on August 16 at 6:30 p.m. at Sanford Performing Arts Center. The Athletics’ program’s objectives are:
- To provide opportunities for social growth.
- To develop and improve time management skills.
- To develop and understand the concepts of individual and team play.
- To develop a sense of commitment, loyalty, cooperation and fairness.
- To learn that good sportsmanship means winning and losing with grace and dignity.
- To learn to make decisions under pressure.
- To foster City pride.
The Sanford Mainers’ 2022 season came to an end on August 4 after a loss to Vermont in game 3 of the semifinal round of the playoffs. After a very shaky start to the season, no one expected the team to get as far as they did, ultimately finishing with a regular season record of 22-22, the best finish for the team since 2018. They had two wins in the playoffs as well, including a 5-0 shutout in their final game at Goodall Park on August 3. Thanks to all the players, coaches, staff and volunteers for a great season and see you in 2023!
Joe Joe Rodriguez, who pitched for the Sanford Mainers in 2021, has been signed to the New York Mets! Congratulations and best of luck in the big leagues!
The Maine Attraction Water Ski Show Team took 2nd place in the Eastern Regional Tournament, and had the highest scoring Female Act in the competition!
Sanford Soccer’s 2022 fall season is just around the corner! The first game for all of our local programming is August 20th. This includes Little Kickers and U6 through U9. U6 through U9 will have their first practice the week of Aug 15th to Aug 19th. The first game for U12 and U13 will be Aug 28th, and the first game for U10 and U11 will be September 11th. Practices will start prior to the first game. If your kids are registered, coaches will be in contact soon with more details.
