Sanford PD uses Grants to Shift its Focus to Community Policing

In Three Years, Sanford Police Department’s Mental Health Unit Has Received $330,000 From Outside Sources Press Release On July 1, 2022, the Sanford Police Department will receive a $125,000 COPS (Community Oriented Policing Services) grant. The grant will be used to put a second officer in the department’s Mental Health Unit (MHU). Sanford’s MHU provides aid and resources for those experiencing homelessness, substance use disorder (SUD), and mental health crises.
