The Sanford Police Department issued this statement today:
UPDATE TO THE SIDEBOTHAM/HANSEN CASE:
Since 7/2/2022, the Sanford Police Department in collaboration with several municipal, state, and federal law enforcement agencies, has investigated the departure of Nicholas Hansen, Jill Sidebotham, and Lydia Hansen from the Springvale area, on June 28, 2022. The effort included digital investigations, area canvassing by land and air, and a thorough media/social media information campaign conducted extensively by the National Center for Missing and Endangered Children (NCMEC).
On 9/6/2022, contact was made with each party. Detectives spoke with all parties via phone and video chat. The Sanford Police Department can report that each party is unharmed and safe, and no evidence of criminal behavior has been observed. We also had verification that they were safe from local law enforcement who met with them in person. At the involved parties’ request, no information as to their location or motive for departing the Springvale area will be disclosed.
