Our neglect/abuse calls for service dropped in 2022 and far fewer of our four-legged residents have found themselves in our care. A multi-family home at 46 Elm St. in Sanford was severely damaged by fire late Tuesday night, but no injuries were reported. 11-year-old Matthew Perkins smelled the smoke even before smoke detectors went off, and quickly alerted his family. The property has been condemned, but the residents have all found new apartments through the building owner, White Bark Properties, which owns many multi-families in southern Maine. Sanford’s Apartment Boom

Sanford is set to see a big expansion in the number of market-rate rental housing units in the next two years, with major building or renovation projects happening all over town.
