Sanford’s Civil Air Patrol Squadron Flying High

The Civil Air Patrol is a nationwide non-profit organization of volunteers that serves as the civilian auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force. It is open to anyone age 12 and up, divided into Cadets (age 12-21) and Seniors (age 18+). While some members are military veterans and their families, many have no military experience. The Arts Collaborative of Sanford (ACS) is a group of like-minded citizens and organizations dedicated to the advancement of the arts in Sanford and Springvale. Girl Scout Troop 2085 from Sanford recently completed a baking competition to earn a baking badge that they designed themselves. This competition, held at the Sanford Elks Lodge, was the culmination of nearly two months of learning and teaching each other about baking. The girls (pictured above) are Girl Scout Cadets in grades 6 and 8. The girls started this badge with kitchen safety and cleanliness, then learned about the common different baking ingredients.
