On Sunday, October 31, there were no arrests or summonses. Among the calls handled by Sanford Police that day were three animal complaints, on School St., Main St., and Railroad Ave.; a report of harassment on Thompson St. and a domestic disturbance on Bodwell St. Monday, November 1 was a very busy day and night for the Department. On Sunday, October 24, a 28-year-old Sanford resident was arrested on an outstanding warrant, following a domestic disturbance on Timber Ridge Ave. Monday, October 25, a motor vehicle stop at School St. and Gregory Dr. led to a 45-year-old Sanford resident being taken into custody on a warrant. On Sunday, October 17, Sanford officers responding to a disturbance at the corner of Dale and Emery Sts., took a 24-year-old Springvale resident into custody on a charge of violating condition of release. 8 New Firefighters Join SFD

Eight new recruits have recently joined the Sanford Fire Department, two in new positions and six replacements. Some are local and some will be moving to the area from away. Experience levels range from relatively new to the industry, to five years on another professional department. One is an EMT-Advanced, one is in paramedic school, and the rest are EMT-Basics.  The recruits have spent their first two weeks learning and bonding with each other and the current firefighters.
