Fires Outdoor fires are very common in spring, as shown by the number of incidents in the first half of this month. Fire Department Log: April 16-30, 2022

Fires On April 16, a High St. fire in debris on the ground spread to a shed, fortunately no injuries were reported. On April 21, a brush fire was started by a cigarette, then wind spread it to surrounding leaves. Engines 4 and 5 responded to both of those calls. The City Council’s Public Safety Subcommittee met Tuesday, May 10, 2022. The following items were discussed by Subcommittee members Councilors Ayn Hanselmann, Becky Brink and Jonathan Martell with members of the Police Department and other City staff. Sunday, April 24: A 54-year-old Sanford resident was summonses for assault and refusing to sign a summons, following a disturbance on High St. A motor vehicle stop at Emery and Schools Sts. resulted in a 22-year-old Sanford resident being summonsed for violating condition of release, failure to register a motor vehicle more than 150 days, and operating without a license. Police Department’s Online Reporting System is Now Live

The Sanford Police Department’s online reporting system is up and running. Residents can use this new tool to report non-emergency crimes and incidents directly from their smart phones or computers. If the incident is an immediate threat to life, safety or property, do not use the online system, but call 911 instead.
