Carpentier Park Revitalization Planned

If a funding request by the City of Sanford is successful, there will be some great improvements coming to Carpentier Park. The City Council’s Municipal Operations and Property Subcommittee this week began the job of planning for Sanford’s summer holiday celebrations, when they spoke with Recreation Coordinator Lori Hegarty and Parks Supervisor Brian Desrochers. Effective May 24, state guidelines will allow for outdoor events to be held at 100% capacity, as long as social distancing measures are followed. Fishing Derby Winners

There was a great turnout at Winterfest on Saturday, February 13, for the Ice Fishing Derby on Number One Pond. 53 kids participated and many fish were caught. In the Large Mouth Bass category, Logan Cormack, age 14, won the blue ribbon with a 16 ¼ inch fish. Winterfest! February 13-19

Sanford Parks and Recreation have a full week of activities planned (snow and ice permitting!) to celebrate winter and keep the kids busy. 2021 Junior Duck Stamp Challenge

Maine Audubon is collaborating with U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service for the 27th annual Federal Junior Duck Stamp Conservation and Design Program. Educators can download a free dynamic, multidisciplinary curriculum that teaches wetland and waterfowl conservation to students in kindergarten through high school.
