Get Ready for WinterFest 2022!

Kids, get out your snow tubes and ice fishing gear – WinterFest is coming! Sanford’s annual celebration of all things cold and wintery kicks off on Saturday, February 19 with the Youth Ice Fishing Derby at Number One Pond, brought to you by Sanford Parks & Rec and the Carl J. A Whole Summer of Fun Awaits at the Y’s Camp Marland

The Sanford-Springvale YMCA’s Camp Marland is taking registrations now for their summer camp for kids entering kindergarten through ninth grade. There are 11 one-week sessions beginning June 14 and ending August 27. The main Camp, for boys and girls entering second through seventh grades, is located on 30 acres at Bunganut Lake Park in Lyman. Summer Camp Registration Open

Sanford Parks & Recreation will have a variety of summer camp options this year for kids age 3-13. Summer Wee Ones Morning Camp at Benton Park is for ages 3-6 and will be split into two groups—one group to attend Monday and Wednesday and the other group Tuesday and Thursday. Carpentier Park Revitalization Planned

If a funding request by the City of Sanford is successful, there will be some great improvements coming to Carpentier Park. Lee Burnett, who works as a grant writer for the City, described the project at the City Council’s April 20 meeting. He said the city was contacted by aides to Representative Chellie Pingree, who said that now that federal earmarks have been revived, there is an opportunity for funding of community projects.
