Scouting News: Pack 355 and Troop 327 spent a couple of hours on Saturday, May 7 participating in the annual international Scouts Trash The Trash Day, which is a challenge to collect one pound of trash per person involved. They collected just under 200 pounds of trash from Holdsworth Park/The Rec area, including 4 tires and a broken TV. Thank you scouts and families who participated! Plant Sale: The Landscaping and Horticulture program at the Sanford Regional Technical Center is jumping into spring with a plant sale the week of May 9 to May 14. The green house is stocked and ready to sell vegetables, herbs and flowers, as well as house plants and flowering hanging pots. The plant sale will be held during school hours from 8:15 to 1:00 and an hour longer  on Tuesday and Thursday until 2:00. The greenhouse will also be open…

Tyler Sar, a first-generation college student from Sanford, has been named York County Community College's 2022 Student of the Year. Tyler was also named top of his class in the Maine Criminal Justice Corrections Academy. With his degree in Criminal Justice and successful completion of academy training, Tyler has been hired as a corrections officer at the York County Sheriff's Department. Effective April 20, York County Community Action Corporation (YCCAC) is no longer requiring passengers to wear masks on board YCCAC buses. Masks are welcome and remain an important preventive measure against COVID-19. Anyone needing or choosing to wear one is encouraged to do so. This week the Sanford Water District replaced water services on Prescott St. and Shaw St. as part of the City’s West Side Village project. The water services were older copper pipes with flared fittings, most installed roughly 90 years ago. Replacement of the older water services will help to prevent any leaks, minimize water loss, and allow them to place the curb box in a proper location on the newly reconstructed road.
