The First Baptist Church of Springvale will have its annual Lobster Bake on Saturday, August 6. They will have 1.25 lb lobster or 12 oz sirloin steak for $25 (additional lobsters $15 each), or 1/2 barbequed chicken for $17.50. Lots of sides, a dessert, and a beverage are included. The Edmund E. Goodwin House, at 503 Main St. in Springvale, is open to the public on Saturdays throughout July and August. Hours are 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Guided tours are available of the beautifully preserved and restored home, which dates to 1899. There is no admission fee but donations are gratefully accepted. On June 21, the Goodall Library had a great kickoff to its Oceans of Possibilities summer reading program with a visit from the Seacoast Science Center. Families got to learn about sea creatures through live touch tanks, about the rescue work the Science Center does through an interactive seal vet play station, and even got to sift through rocks to find shark teeth.
