Portsmouth program extends financial safety net to caregivers 

Caregivers in families struggling with substance abuse may be eligible for financial assistance, thanks to a $15,000 grant to a Portsmouth, NH program that also serves Southern Maine.  The New Hampshire Charitable Foundation awarded the grant to Step Up Parents, which provides assistance to grandparents and other relatives who step up to raise children whose parents struggle with substance abuse. Maine State Law requires all dogs and cats to be vaccinated against rabies. Tractor Supply on Main Street South Sanford: Sundays- July 24th and August 7th from 4pm to 5:30pm. Covid-19 Update: November 8

The Sanford School Department announced on November 5 that an individual associated with Margaret Chase Smith School recently tested positive for COVID-19. The current hybrid model of education helped limit any contact this individual had with others so very few staff and students were exposed. Those at risk have already been identified and contacted by a CDC or school representative and are quarantining. We will update tomorrow if any more positive test results are announced. New Behavioral Health Units Open at Sanford Medical Center

Southern Maine Health Care (SMHC) and Maine Behavioral Healthcare (MBH) are opening two new behavioral health units at the Sanford Medical Center (former Goodall Hospital). In addition, the Sanford Medical Center emergency department has expanded to include dedicated emergency psychiatric services and rooms (see photo above). Inquiry Into Jail Outbreak Announced

York County Manager Gregory Zinser announced on Thursday, September 3 that there will be an inquiry by an independent third party into the circumstances that led to the outbreak of Covid-19 among staff and inmates at the York County Jail.
