Caregivers in families struggling with substance abuse may be eligible for financial assistance, thanks to a $15,000 grant to a Portsmouth, NH program that also serves Southern Maine.
The New Hampshire Charitable Foundation awarded the grant to Step Up Parents, which provides assistance to grandparents and other relatives who step up to raise children whose parents struggle with substance abuse. Parental substance abuse is a contributing factor in the opioid epidemic that is devastating to thousands of families in New Hampshire and Maine, according to Step Up Parents.
