Covid Cases Spiking in Sanford Now, Too

The Maine Centers for Disease Control is reporting a big jump in Covid-19 cases this week here in Sanford and Springvale. The new cumulative total is 188 cases in Sanford and 57 cases in Springvale, for a total of 245 cases in our community. What is most worrisome is that this represents an increase of 23 cases more than last week, by far the largest one-week increase since the pandemic began. Covid-19 Case at Middle School

The Sanford School Department announced that an individual associated with Sanford Middle School tested positive for COVID-19 on Saturday, November 14.  There is a possibility that staff or students came in contact with this individual and were exposed to the virus. The Sanford School Department announced on November 5 that an individual associated with Margaret Chase Smith School recently tested positive for COVID-19. The current hybrid model of education helped limit any contact this individual had with others so very few staff and students were exposed. Covid-19 cases are surging across the country, and Maine is not immune. At his regular press briefing on Thursday, October 29, Dr. Nirav Shah, Director of Maine CDC, announced a new one-day high of 80 new cases in the state.
