Tropical Caribbean Offers a Taste of Jamaica

Sanford’s newest retail store is helping to bring the flavor of the islands to southern Maine. Tropical Caribbean opened in December at the Mid-Town Mall with imported Jamaican groceries, including a wide variety of seasoning blends, soup mixes, canned goods, snacks and drinks. The store also offers produce, frozen fish and meats, and freshly baked goodies. Pilot’s Cove Cafe Plans Outdoor Expansion

Pilot's Cove Cafe is planning to expand this year with a new pavilion for outdoor dining, similar to the one pictured here. Sanford Seacoast Regional Airport Manager Allison Navia and Pilot's Cove owner Daniel Bowden spoke about the plans at the January 12 meeting of the City Council's Property Subcommittee. Local businesses are getting in the holiday spirit! This year, Garnsey Brothers Insurance wanted to do something special for area families in need. They purchased 150 Christmas gifts for local families (see photo above), and contacted the Salvation Army to help them "play Santa."
