Holiday closings: City Hall, all other City offices and both Libraries will be closed on Monday for the Memorial Day holiday. Trash and recycling pickup will be as usual. The transfer station will be closed on Tuesday. At Southern Maine Health Care, primary offices, labs and radiology will be closed on Monday. The Walk-In Care Center will be open. Masks are still required at all Southern Maine Health Care offices.
The Sanford Vaccine Clinic is open limited hours in June, on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., and Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to noon.. The Clinic will officially close on June 29 as Southern Maine Health Care transitions to offering Covid vaccinations at its primary care offices and walk-in care centers. Over 40,000 doses of the vaccine have been administered at the Clinic since it opened March 1.
The Portland Press Herald published a story today about Sanford native Rachel Schneider, who will compete at the U.S. Olympic Track & Field trials in Oregon next month. Masks, reservations and social distancing are no longer required at the First Baptist Church of Springvale. There are still two services each Sunday, at 9:00 and 11:00 a.m.
Last year, the Sanford Backpack Program distributed almost 300 Boxes of Joy to families in our community, with each box covered in festive holiday gift wrap. They’re trying to get a head start this year, but have run out of wrapping paper! If you have any to donate, drop it off in the gym lobby at the Nasson Community Center or contact Grace Davie at 22graced@gapps.sanford.org.
York County Community Action is selling the following vehicles from its fleet: a 2008 13-passenger Ford Econoline Van, and a 2007 Ford Econoline Van. Both vehicles are located in Sanford. York County Community Action Corp. (YCCAC) is conducting its 2021 Community Needs Assessment in partnership with MeCAP and the nine other Community Action agencies in Maine. As part of the assessment, they are conducting focus groups with community participation. The goal of the focus groups is to learn more about community strengths, resources, service gaps, and ideas about potential ways to address needs and gaps. Each focus group will last approximately 90 minutes. A virtual focus group will be held Tuesday, June 1 from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m., and an in-person group will be held at Nasson Health Care in Springvale, Wednesday, June 2 from noon to 1:30 p.m. You may attend either or both.
