What if there were one place to find out what’s going on in our community? Well, there is. It’s right here at the Sanford Springvale News, and it’s available in multiple formats. We have the Community Calendar, a resource for individuals, families, and nonprofits. Volunteers check more than 200 Facebook pages and websites on a regular basis for activities that will be occurring in Sanford or Springvale to add to our calendar. Our main focus is activities sponsored by nonprofits, schools or the city and free promotions by local businesses. We also include entertainment opportunities for the general public.
Once we identify these events (no matter how far into the future they may be), we add them to our master calendar, which can be found on our web page www.sanfordspringvalenews.com and accessed at any time, making this a great tool for planning. We also share events on our Facebook page, which has approximately 4,000 followers. Next, we take nine days of activities and list them in an easy-to-read format for our E-Newsletter, which gets emailed to 1,600 subscribers. And finally, we abbreviate the list of activities for those nine days and put them in our print edition, which has a distribution of 2,000 copies available for pickup free of charge at 40 local locations.
If you are affiliated with an organization that is planning an event and you want to get the word out, what better way to accomplish that than to get that event in our Community Calendar? So, please make sure we know about it. If you aren’t seeing your activity on our website, please reach out to us at events@sanfordspringvalenews.com/events/list and let us know about your event. If you have a poster, please attach it to the email. If you have a Facebook page and have created an event for your activity, send the link in the email.
