City Clerk Sue Cote has issued an updated list of municipal offices that are up for election on Nov. 5. One of the School Committee positions was inadvertently left off the original announced list. Here is the full list of available positions:
To qualify for municipal office, candidates must be registered voters whose principal place of residence is in the City of Sanford. Candidates must obtain a minimum number of signatures of registered voters in Sanford/Springvale.
Candidates for municipal office in towns and cities with a population of 15,000 or more (including Sanford) are subject to Chapter 13 of the Maine Election Law. They must register and file campaign finance reports with the municipal clerk of the town or city. Candidates are also subject to the other restrictions in Chapter 13, such as the contribution limit. (30-A M.R.S.A. § 2502(1)). Candidates may obtain the necessary registration and reporting forms from the City Clerk’s office.
The deadline to file nomination papers for all offices is Wednesday, Sept. 4, at 5:30 pm. For more information and for answers to questions about the nomination process, call the City Clerk’s office at 324-9125 during normal business hours, 7:30 am – 5:30 pm, Monday through Thursday.
