The Sanford Parks and Recreation Spartans Travel Basketball teams made a clean sweep at the Maine Event League Championships this past weekend, taking home every division they entered.
The 4th/5th grade boys (pictured above) beat Noble in the Championship game by a score of 32-30 under Head Coach Shane O’Connell, and Asst. Coach Ryan Whitten. Playoff MVP was Kaden O’Connell and the Best Teammate Award winner was Michael Cote.
The 5th/6th grade girls beat Wells 19-17 in the Finals with Head Coach Greg Fiandaca and Asst Coach Eljah Thomas. Playoff MVP was Jaslinn Johnson and the Best Teammate Award winner was Natalie Nadeau.
The 6th grade boys beat Noble in the Championship game 51-23 under Head Coach Keith Lolley and Asst. Coach Keith Gendron. Playoff MVP was Luke Gendron and the Best Teammate Award winner was Griffin Lolley.
The 7th grade boys beat Kennebunk 49-33 in the Finals for Head Coach Cory Adams and Asst. Coach Adam Cote. Playoff MVP was Bryce Adams and the Best Teammate Award winner was Tyler Do.
The 8th grade boys beat Kennebunk 55-31 in the Championship Game with Head Coach Dave Alexander and Asst. Coaches Derick Giroux and Brady Parker. Playoff MVP was Dylan Gendron and the Best Teammate Award Winner was Matt Hebert.
The 8th grade girls were the #1 seed, but their opponent was unfortunately not able to field a team for the Championship Round. The 8th grade girls were awarded the Championship by default.
