Press Release
The Sanford Performing Arts Center opens its 2022-2023 season next week with “Giselle,” with two shows on Saturday, October 22.
Portland Ballet also opens its season on the Sanford stage with the powerful, timeless narrative ballet, a story of “love and betrayal, life and death, vengeance and forgiveness.”
Follow Portland Ballet’s dancers (including SHS alumna Camille Alipalo) through the heartbreaking story of the young village girl, Giselle, and the handsome but disguised and betrothed nobleman, Albrecht, whose betrayal sends Giselle to her grave and the otherworldly realm of the Willis, classical ballet’s creepiest characters! They avenge girls who have died of broken hearts by forcing their betrayers to dance to their deaths. Portland Ballet’s production of Giselle will both romance and haunt you.
Showtimes are 2:00 and 7:00 pm. Tickets range from $24 to $33, with discounts for students, seniors and subscribers.
The season continues with Rodney Marsalis Philadelphia Big Brass at 7:00 pm Friday, October 28, as part of the Partners Bank Spotlight Series.
Owned and operated by the Sanford School Department, SPAC presents a stellar lineup of touring and home-grown shows sure to bring audiences of all ages to their feet. For tickets and information, call The box office at (207) 206-1126. The box office is open for in-person ticket sales Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m.-noon.
