Sanford High School Wrestling finishes 5th at State Championships
The Sanford High School wrestling team delivered a strong performance at the Maine State Wrestling Championships held in Lewiston last weekend, securing an impressive fifth-place finish overall.
The Spartans were led by sophomore Canton Hill, who claimed second place in the 126-pound weight class after a hard-fought final match. Senior James Chaplick added to Sanford’s success with a third-place finish in the 190-pound division.
Alden Treadwell finished fourth in the 285-pound weight class, while Isaiah Phillips secured fourth place in the 120-pound division. Ricky Callis also earned a fourth-place finish in the 175-pound category. Jack Van Gieson placed sixth in the 144-pound class, and Richard Simpson took sixth place in the 175-pound division.
