The Sanford High School boys’ soccer team earned its first win of the season on Friday, October 11, beating Massabesic 5-1 in Waterboro.
The girls’ soccer team had won three of its last four games before dropping matches to Windham and Gorham. Sanford’s last win came on Thursday, October 10, as they beat Biddeford 4-0. Ava Hudson had a goal and two assists, while Brielle Landry, Cassidy Hickey, and Kalyn Stuary also scored for the Spartans.
The boys’ and girls’ cross country teams traveled to Belfast on Saturday, October 5, to compete in the Festival of Champions. Caleb Pelletier was the top finisher on the boys’ side, completing the 5-kilometer course in 17 minutes, 56.26 seconds and placing 110th overall.
The boys’ team placed 44th out of 74 teams.
Sophie Therrien paced the girl’s team as she finished in 24:22.97. The Sanford girls finished 58th in the team results.
