On Wednesday, October 4, the SHS girls’ soccer team battled to a 1-1 double-overtime draw to Falmouth. On Friday, October 6, Annalise Stimmell, Audrey Cote, and Hailey Tarbox each scored two goals as the Spartans beat Biddeford, 8-2. Brielle Landry and Ava Hudson each added goals for Sanford. Following Friday’s win, the team lost to Windham, 3-2, in overtime. Tarbox scored both goals for Sanford.
Sanford High School’s field hockey team battled to a 2-1 win over Massabesic on Thursday, October 5.
The SHS boys’ soccer team played three games last week. They lost to Gorham, 4-0, on Tuesday, October 3, then suffered a 3-1 loss to Westbrook on Thursday, with Antowayne Chisholm scoring the lone goal for the Spartans. Beckett Barlow finished with 11 saves. They concluded the week with a 1-0 loss to Deering on Friday.
The Spartans football team lost to Kennebunk 35-0 on Saturday, October 7.
The boys’ cross country team finished second in a four-school meet at Noble High School in North Berwick on Wednesday, October 4. Freshman Isaac Pelletier led the way for the Spartans, finishing fourth overall in 18 minutes, 44.25 seconds.
Sophie Therrien was the top finisher in the girls’ race, placing 16th in 26:12.41.
