The SHS football team (3-0-1) remained undefeated and in first place in the Class A South Division as they rolled to a 42-6 win over Marshwood on Friday, September 22. Sanford got contributions from several different athletes. Rhylen Avery rushed for 140 yards and a touchdown while Carter Mills ran for two touchdowns. Makai Bougie had two interceptions. Jordan Bissonnette and Cameron Suhy each added scores for the Spartans.
The girls’ soccer team had its first loss of the season at Cheverus High School on Friday, 9/22 by a score of 2-0. Goalkeeper Sophie Olivio had 11 saves. On Wednesday, 9/27 they lost to Gorham 4-2. Juliana McBarron and Annalise Stimmell scored goals for Sanford. Sophie Olivio made 7 saves.
The golf team won consecutive matches against Noble and Marshwood last week. Zach Parison shot a 43 over nine holes at Dutch Elm Golf Course in Sanford’s win over Marshwood on Tuesday, September 21.
The boys’ soccer team had a 2-0 loss to Bonny Eagle on Saturday, September 23. Goalkeeper Beckett Barlow finished with 13 saves.
The SHS field hockey team had close losses to Falmouth, 1-0, on Saturday, September 23 and Noble, 4-1, on Monday, September 25. On Wednesday, September 27 they were defeated by Gorham, 4-1. Sadie Sevigny scored the goal for Sanford.
