Upgrades to Carl J. Lamb School for the new school year: Over the summer, the custodial, technology and maintenance crews were hard at work making improvements to the facility, including re-keying doors; building a new vestibule in the lobby; adding a new lobby ceiling and lights; painting the lobby and lobby bathrooms; and installing a maple countertop in the main office. More improvements are planned, including installation of a new playground structure (see related note below).
Coming soon: Free flu shots for Sanford High School students: In partnership with Northern Light Home Care & Hospice, the Sanford School Department will hold an influenza vaccination clinic on Monday, October 16. The deadline to complete consent forms, which are available here, is Friday, October 13, at noon. It should be noted that all highlighted fields need something entered, so please use NA if it doesn’t apply. Also, be sure to include accurate insurance information. While the vaccine is provided at no charge, even to those without insurance, there is a cost to administer the vaccine. Children who have an incomplete form at the clinic will not receive the vaccine.
Head Start classrooms are back in session: The York County Community Action Corporation (YCCAC) provides services to children and families in the areas of early learning, health and family well-being while engaging parents along the way. Teachers and staff follow an age-appropriate, individualized curriculum that supports social, emotional, physical and educational development to help each child be ready to thrive in kindergarten. FMI on what YCCAC offers or to find out if your family qualifies, go here.
Yearbooks on sale now: High School yearbooks can be ordered online here. Just type in Sanford, select your school from the list and follow the order system. Pre-ordering during the fall guarantees that a book will be available.
