Sanford students in grades K-4 will be attending in-person classes two days a week, beginning September 14, rather than the five-day schedule originally planned. They will be split into A and B groups under the same system used for the grade 5-12 students. Superintendent of Schools Matt Nelson explained that the change was due to the spread of Covid-19 in our community. Read his full letter here. The schedule is here.

Sanford High School Athletic Director Gordie Salls announced last week that York County’s “yellow” designation by the state means that there will be no fall sports program. He urged everyone to wear masks and social distance to “get back to green” as soon as possible, in order for sports activities to resume. Watch his video here.

Beginning Monday, September 14, 2020, free school meals are available for pickup for all students enrolled in Sanford School Department’s Distance Learning Program.  Meals should be pre-ordered by 7:00 pm the night before using this online order form.  The meals may be picked up between 11:00 to 11:30 on school days at Lafayette School.  For more information, call the School Nutrition Program office at 608-8762.

If you did not get a paper copy of your child’s school schedule at the technology pickup last week, it can be downloaded here. If you don’t have a login, email your child’s homeroom teacher ASAP for assistance. Teachers will be helping students find their way through the schedule on Monday during homeroom, so all the student needs to know is their homeroom teacher’s Zoom link and to be logged in at 7:40.

Confused about where to park or drop off kids at Margaret Chase Smith School? See the handy map above. Drive all the way around the school and drop off students just before you get back to the parking area.
