SHS students can fuel up with the afterschool meal program: Through the USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program, afterschool meals will be available again this school year to Sanford High School students on days when afterschool enrichment activities are held, generally Monday through Thursday. Sanford School Nutrition will offer well-balanced, nutritious “grab and go” meals, to be consumed onsite at SHS. Meals will be available outside the cafeteria at no charge. This is the second year Sanford School Nutrition is participating in the USDA food program. FMI, call Sanford School Nutrition at 207-608-8762.
Having a banner year: The first few class banners have been placed in the Sanford High School (SHS) parking lot thanks to the Sanford High School Banner Campaign, managed by the nonprofit Sanford Schools Legacy Foundation. The foundation has challenged classmates of each SHS class year to make a tax-deductible donation toward their class’s banner. The cost of each banner is $1,250. Each donation gives back to students across all grades in all Sanford schools. FMI, to check out each class’s total, and to make a donation, go here.
SCAE classes begin Sept. 9: The fall term at Sanford Community Adult Education begins Sept. 9. FMI and to learn how to earn your GED (now called HiSET) or high school diploma, call 207-490-5145.
Be in the know before the SMS school year begins: Sept. 3 marks the first day of school at Sanford Middle School. In preparation, the school has published a Welcome Back letter with a list of upcoming events, reminders, clubs and activities, and other helpful information. Read the letter here.
SRTC orientation scheduled for Aug. 28: Orientation Night for all new students and families at Sanford Regional Technical Center (SRTC) will be held Aug. 28 at 6 pm beginning in the Sanford Performing Arts Center. After a brief introduction and an overview of expectations, families and students will be released to their individual programs to meet the instructors and view the facility. Attendees should enter the building through Doors #1 and #43. There is plenty of parking on campus. Attendance for new SRTC students and families is highly recommended.
